So I took a little trip down to Ulta yesterday planning to renew my membership and take a look at some new product. I ended up leaving with the FAUX Beauty Blender sponge that Ulta makes. It is a pink-ish-orange sponge (shaped like the Sonia Kashuk verion).
First thing that I noticed, it came wrapped in a plastic bag. I didn't really like this, mostly because I'm probably used to the idea of the actual Beauty Blender and Sonia Kashuk's dupe being in a nice plastic container type of packaging. Second thing that I noticed, after dampening my sponge and applying my foundation (by stippling it onto my face NOT rubbing... do not rub with a sponge, ladies or gentlemen) was that this sponge had a horrible plastic smell that gave me a huge headache for the rest of the day. Maybe this was my bad for not washing it before the first use, but it was BAD. Other than the smell and the baggy packaging, I wasn't CRAZY about the application. It just didn't give me the awesome coverage that I was expecting but hey, it was only $4.99.
One thing that I did love about this product was the shape and how easy it was to grip while applying my foundation. Other than that I honestly can't say that I was too crazy about the sponge. Apparently a ton of girls loved the Ulta knock off Beauty Blender, but I'm sorry, I'm just not one of them.
I'm going to take a trip down to Target this weekend to pick up Sonia Kashuk's blending sponge and some ELF products and I will let you guys know how that goes. :)
For now here is a picture of the Ulta "Basically U" blending sponge:
